About Stephenville International Airport (YJT)

Stephenville International Airport (YJT) is one of Atlantic Canada's most unique transportation and infrastructure assets. Located on the west coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, the airport combines a strategic geographic location with extensive aviation infrastructure, making it well-positioned to support future growth in aviation, logistics, industry, tourism, and regional connectivity.
At the heart of the airport is a 10,000-foot runway capable of accommodating a wide range of aircraft operations. Combined with significant surrounding lands, access to regional transportation networks, and proximity to deep-water port facilities, YJT offers exceptional potential as a gateway connecting Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada to national and international markets. The airport's infrastructure and location have made it an important aviation asset for decades and continue to create opportunities for future development.
Today, Stephenville International Airport is entering an exciting new chapter. Following its acquisition by Stephenville International Airport Corp. (SIAC), supported by BTG Capital, the airport is pursuing a long-term vision focused on infrastructure revitalization, operational growth, and strategic development. This vision includes exploring opportunities in aviation services, cargo and logistics operations, aerospace and industrial partnerships, transportation connectivity, and support for regional tourism and economic development.
The future of YJT is rooted in partnership. Working alongside local communities, Indigenous groups, government agencies, businesses, and regional stakeholders, the airport aims to support sustainable growth while creating lasting economic opportunities throughout Western Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada.
As YJT continues to evolve, its commitment remains the same: to serve as a gateway for connection, investment, innovation, and opportunity for generations to come.
